For the third year in a row, Nexus employees and broker guests recently competed in the annual yachting regatta at Cowes in the Isle of Wight. For a week the crew sailed a 37’ Oceanis class racing yacht called 'Vis a Vis'.
Nexus recently held their annual broker reception Leadenhall Market where 250 Nexus employees, brokers and insurance journalists enjoyed an informal evening of fun, drinks and canapés entertained by the Reubens Richards Band and sustained by a delicious BBQ.
Nexus has recently taken part in fundraising and support for the charity Shaun the Sheep by going on a sponsored Shaun-hunt in Bristol.
This event was sponsored by Bluefin who invited a number of insurers and business partners. Nexus sent 3 employees, Jo Edgley, Liz O’Conner and Adam Yardley to Bristol to hunt for the Shaun statues and along with 2 Bluefin “guides” who took Shaun-Selfies as evidence. The company made a donation for the team to participate in this day long event and we won the ‘David Baailey Award’ for best Shaun-Selfie resulting in us receiving a silver mini-Shaun.
During 2015, two arts trails were created across Bristol and London, organised by the Wallace &Gromit’s Children’s Foundation, bringing a total of 120 giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures, created by artists, designers and celebrities, to iconic locations and green spaces across both cities for the public to enjoy.
Both flocks of Shauns from Bristol and London will go to auction later in the year, with funds raised from the 70 Bristol sculptures going to The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, and money generated from the 50 London sculptures benefitting Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity that supports children in hospitals across the UK.
The Shaun in the City initiative was produced by the team that created the award-winning Gromit Unleashed, which saw Aardman’s loveable canine sidekick Gromit help raise £5 million for Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Following the untimely death of Matthew Harding in 1996, the Matthew Harding Memorial Cup was established in recognition of the contribution that he made to Lloyd’s Football Club. The Nexus team manager, Kevin Gotts assembled a talented squad for us to take part in this competition for the first time:
Eleven Nexus employees and 22 broker guests descended on Cowes in the Isle of Wight to take part in the annual yachting regatta, the first time the group has taken part in this world famous event.
At the end of June, 10 members of staff and 40 brokers enjoyed an evening of tasting wines from France, Italy, South America and other countries.
